Title : A Comparative Study of The Actor and Actress Of Product
Placement in Bolywood and Holywood Movies
Kinds of the research : The kinds of the research used was qualitative. It seeked for
for camparing the actors and actress of product placement in
bolywood and holywood movies.
Subject of the research : The subject of this research are actors and actress from
bolywood and holywood movies. It was selected basically of the
figure thus bolywood and holywood movies which is from 2005
to 2009.
Object of the research : This research is intended to compare the actors and actress of
of product placement in bolywood and holywood movies from
2005 to 2009
Place of the research : The place of this research is watching from the television and
around the film was shown.
Problem statement : In relation to the title of this research, the writer formulates
some research question as follows.
1. What is the characteristic of the actor and actress of product placement in movies?
2. Is there a significant comparative between of the actor and actress of product placement in bolywood and holywood movies from 2005 to 2009?
Hypotesis : Based on the problem statement above, the writer proposed a
hypotesis; there is a significant comparative study between the
actors and actress of product placement in bolywood and
holywood films from 2005 to 2009.
The scope of the research : This research is focused on the comparative between actor and
actress of product placement in bolywood and holywood
movies from 2005 to 2009.
Research methodology : The method used was content analysis. The varied nature of

Actor and actress in movies, along with numerous elements

of product placement, makes it difficult for scholars to

formulate a single framework to assess all the brand

placements and put them into predetermined categories.

Design of the research :







Variable of the research : This research has two variable which is consist of a comparative
between actor of product placement and actress of product
placement in bolywood and holywood moviesfrom 2005 to
2009.
Population : The population of the research consisted of the actor and
actress who has taken figure of the bolywood and holywood
films from 2005 until 2009.
Target of population : The actor and actress of the bolywood and holywood film were
taken is that they had different and similarity for five years.
Sample of the research : The sample consisted of 15 movies from holywood and 15
movies from bolywood. The unit of analysis was the entire
movie. The secondary criterion for sample selection was the
genre of the movies. The sample included movies from drama,
action, comedy, adventure, romance, crime, and horror genres.
However, animation movies, science-fiction movies, fantasy
movies, period movies, and children’s movies were excluded
since these types of movies are very new and still emerging
genres in Bollywood.
Sampling method : In this research, the writer used kuota sampling. The writer
takes the sample from 15 bolywood movies and 15 holywood
movies were shown from 2005 to 2009.
Instrument of the research : In this research, the writer utilized two kinds of instrument
namely systematic observation and documentation.
Procedure of collecting data : The data about product placement, or placing brands in movies,

is a widely recognized practice that dates from the 1980s. This

study is a content analysis of product placement in 15

Bollywood and 15 Hollywood movies from 2005 to 2009.

Statistical tests showed that there were a significantly higher

number of product placements in Hollywood movies that were

integrated into the storylines, verbally referred to by characters

in the movies, appropriate to the movie scenes, and containing

implied endorsements by the actors than product placements in

Bollywood movies. However, in terms of duration of the time

that brands were onscreen, product placements in Bollywood

movies in 2006 and 2007 were significantly greater than in

Hollywood movies.

Technique of data analysis : To analysis the data collected, this study will identify the
characteristic of actor and actress and to compare between
bolywood and and holywood show movies to find out the
similarities and the differences from 2005 to 2009
Purpose the research : To determine the similarity and differences between actor and
actress of product placement in both the bolywood and
holywood film industries
